In Honor of Dr. Therese Lango
Therese is the second of six children of Mr. and Mrs. Alphonse Lango. She grew up outside our nation’s capitol near the University of Maryland and attended Northwestern Sr. High during her undergraduate training at George Washington University, her father’s alma mater. She did graduate studies at the University of Maryland in medical anatomy working for the anatomy department of the Uniform Services University of the Health Sciences.
Therese spent five years in the Dominican Republic, where she studied medicine and served as medical missionary in the public hospitals. She returned to the US to advance her studies, completing her internship and residency in Internal Medicine at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital Medical Center in Youngstown, OH. She then moved to Boston, MA for General Cardiology Fellowship. Therese and her family, Jim Geiss, Cybil and Katelyn Geiss, returned to Ohio in Canton to private practice, returning to MA to do an advanced fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at the Baystate Medical Center.
She moved to Spartanburg, SC and after four years there, joined Tennessee Valley Cardiovascular Center here in the Shoals. Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease and Interventional Cardiology, she is also a current member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, and the Vice President of the Lauderdale County Medical Society and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.
